On Sunday 5th December a Eucharistic Celebration presided by H.E. Mons. Carmelo Cuttitta, Prior of the Palermo Section, was held at the Capitular Church of San Cataldo, in the presence of the Governor General, Leonardo Visconti Di Modrone, of H.E. the Lieutenant of Italia Sicilia Maurizio Russo, their Excellencies the Lieutenants of Italia Meridionale Tirrenica, Giovanni Battista Rossi, of Italia Centrale Appenninica Giuseppe Marrani, of Malta, Roberto Buontempo and of Italia-Sardegna Marco Cantori. This ended an extraordinary three days on the 40th anniversary of the constitution of the Italia Sicilia Lieutenancy.
The Vigil ceremony, presided by His Eminence Cardinal Romeo, was held on Friday 3rd December, at Palermo’s Cappella Palatina, where 60 new investees took their oath. On the same evening, a Charity Concert was held entitled “Non ci ardeva forse il cuore” to celebrate the anniversary, held at the Cathedral Basilica of Palermo.
To conclude the celebrations, on Saturday 4th December, in the splendour of the mosaics of the Cathedral of Monreale, the Investiture ceremony took place, presided over by His Eminence Cardinal Grand Master Filoni.The Lieutenancy of Malta extends its heartfelt congratulations to the newly invested and promoted Knights and Dames, as well as the outstanding organisation.
