Pilgrimage to Poland

As part of the celebrations marking the 25th anniversary of our establishment as a Lieutenancy, a pilgrimage to Poland was organised, led by Ambassador Roberto Buontempo, Lieutenant for Malta.

The programme included visits to Kraków, Auschwitz-Birkenau, Jasna Góra, Wadowice and Miechów, among other significant sites.

During the visit to Miechów, our Lieutenant was the keynote speaker at a symposium commemorating both the anniversary of the dedication of the parish church in Miechów and the anniversary of the consecration of the Basilica of the Holy Sepulchre in Jerusalem.

Following the symposium, members of the Maltese delegation and their companions were presented with the Miechów Pilgrim’s Cross.

Special thanks go to Comm. Stanisław Osmenda for his generous hospitality, to Dame Comm. Maria Busuttil Delbridge for co-ordinating the logistics and to Mgr. Comm. Paul Carmel Vella, who acted as our Spiritual Director during the Pilgrimage.
